Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi The Scheme of Kendriya Vidyalayas was approved in November, 1962 by the Government of India on the recommendations of the Second Central Pay Commission, in order to provide uninterrupted education to the wards of transferrable Central Government Employees. Consequently, Central School Organization was started as a unit of Ministry of Education (now Ministry of Human Resource Development) of the Government of India. Initially 20 Regimental Schools were taken over as Central Schools during the Academic Year-1963-64.



The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act (XXI Of 1860) on 15th December 1965. The primary aim of the Sangathan is to provide, establish, endow, maintain, control and manage the Central Schools (Kendriya Vidyalayas)located over India and abroad. KVS runs approximately 1199 Kendriya Vidyalayas including three Vidyalayas in abroad locations, five Zonal Institutes of Education and Training (ZIET) and Twenty five Regional Offices spread across the country.



Kendriya Vidyalaya, NIT Agartala is one of the Kendriya Vidyalayas run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi under the project mode (Higher Learning Institute) which is fully financed by National Institute of Technology, Agartala. Presently, KV NITA is running in the permanent school building within campus of NIT Agartala. The Vidyalaya is fully equipped with all necessary modern physical and scientific devices like LCD Projectors, audio & visual aids and all essential infrastructural developments which play a vital role in educating the children and making education a fun to learn. The Vidyalaya has the strength of approximately 425 students with 01 section in each class from classes I to XI and well trained, experienced and dedicated team of teachers, who are capable of fulfilling the demands of the growing modern generation of students.

1. To cater to the educational needs of transferable central Govt. Employees’ children and other floating population including those belonging to undeveloped areas.

2. To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education.

3. To initiate and promote experimentations and innovations in collaboration with other bodies like CBSE, NCERT etc.

4. To develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of Indianness among children.
